We are Epic season
Originally started with 6 friends, including two sets of siblings, we had been making music together for 10 years. We had been writing, recording, and performing as Epic Season since 2009; simultaneously working seasonal jobs in the tourism-dependent Mount Washington Valley to fund our musical endeavor. The band traveled to Nashville, TN to record an EP that debuted in 2012. An 11-track album, New Lands, was released in August 2014.
Classical piano lessons were a mutual experience which aided the self-teaching of other instruments. Over many hours of practice in attics and basements, our sound and rapport developed. Being rooted in an indie-alternative musical field, our sound is often shaped by our differences in influences, from the commercially-driven U2, OneRepublic, and Coldplay, to the more independent sounds of MuteMath, Paper Route, Twentyone Pilots and Sigur Ros. The songs of Epic Season are built on a foundation of solid drums, rhythm guitar, piano, and tastefully phrased bass lines. The songs are led cooperatively by electric guitar and software synth, with added seasoning from vocal harmonies and occasional string arrangements. The lyrics, intended for more than entertainment, provoke an examination of how we live and what we live for. In view of new opportunities and recent life changes, Epic Season is now a three-piece band. We are in the process of shaping new sounds, and are excited to see what the journey ahead has in store.
"Epic Season has captured the sounds of some of their musical heroes (Bastille, The Killers, Coldplay, Mutemath, Paper Route), yet remixed and reinvented them in a way that is, frankly, quite astounding given the band's young collective age. Epic Season proves that it's possible to take elements from your musical predecessors and create a collage that is wholly your own, and that you don't have to skimp on creativity to make something melodic and catchy. New Lands is one of the best albums of the year in whatever genre you want to stick it in."
